Rhetorical Analysis Essay Assignment Help

Description
Rhetorical Analysis Essay Assignment
Your goal in writing this paper is to analyze the central arguments of an article—of your choice— and to assess the value of this article in relation to a wider audience by analyzing the author’s writing style, use of structure, rhetorical appeals, and any logical fallacies.
Length: 1500 words (about 5 pages in 12 point font).
Your goal is to analyze and evaluate two things 1) the merits of the author’s arguments in the article and 2) how successfully he or she presents these arguments rhetorically (i.e. how effectively she persuades us through the approach/the rhetorical strategies.
Your process should include the following qualities as you prepare your essay:
Introduction:
· Include the author’s name and the article title, correctly formatted.
· A brief summary of the main argument in the text.
· Mention the context – What conversation is happening?
What or who is this text responding to?
What is the time and social conditions that might influence the author?
· Thesis/Main Argument. – Your clear judgment or evaluation of the effectiveness of the text with brief reasoning.
Body paragraphs – each will focus on one strategy to analyze. Aim for about 5 strategies to analyze.
Claims should state the type of analysis each of your body paragraphs is dealing with, ie. structure, style, rhetorical appeals, and/or any applicable logical fallacies as you discuss the qualities of the text
Several examples from across the text that illustrate your claims about the article’s effectiveness. You should use summary, paraphrase, and direct quotation (not only “quotes”)
Consistent use of signal phrases to indicate when you’re talking about the article and when you’re expressing your own ideas.
· This can include the following types of strategies, but not all of them. Chose the ones that best connect to the article you’ve chosen.
· Criteria 1: elements of structure – connection of claims to evidence, context, any disconnect in the structure
· Criteria 2: rhetorical appeals – ethos, pathos, and/or logos
Conclusion
· Explain why readers should keep your analysis in mind if they want to read about the topic or this article in particular.
